So this week I bought a couple Gridseed units, I've always wanted to try them out. Gridseed units look like this

and can mine scrypt, SHA-256, or both at once. The hash rates vary from each mode but as I've read 100 times, it's recommended to just run in scrypt. Surprisingly, the setup is incredibly easy.

7 Ultra-Quick Steps to get Mining

  1. Plug your unit into it's power source (Either to your computers PSU, or a wall outlet).
  2. Plug your USB cord into your unit and computer.
  3. Download ZADIG and open it.
  4. Go to options, select "List all devices" and click on your STM32 Virtual COM Port from the drop down list, then replace drivers.
  5. Download CGMiner and extract it.
  6. Go into your CGMiner and edit LTC_ONLY.bat and change the pool settings to your own.
  7. Save the .bat and run it.

That's it! All done! Your hashrate in sctypt only mode should be anywhere from 300-400KH/s, generally mine stays from 360-400KH/s but there will likely be a bit of variation.

Troubleshooting

Some communications problems can happen, so if you're having some troubles you should restart your computer and try again. Another quick fix for some issues is to unplug your usb, wait 10 seconds and plug it back in again and hopefully that will resolve anything.

If this didn't pan out for you and are still having difficulties, you can reach out to me and I can try my best to help you fix any issues you encounter.
