Overview

This is for the Antminer S3, mine are batch 11. So to get started, the units are very nicely made from my experience, and actually not too bad to get started with. You're going to need your miner, a PSU (power supply unit, like the one in your PC) and an Ethernet cord.

S3+ Specifications:

  • Hash Rate: 453 GH/s±5% with great OC potential

  • Power Consumption: 355 Watt at the wall

  • Power Efficiency: 0.78J/GH on wall

  • Power Supply: 12V DCSize:  331 mm x 137 mm x 160 mm Fans: Two 14038 fans mounted on both front and back ends

  • Operating Temperature: 0 °C to 35 °C

  • Complied with: FCC / CENetwork Connection: Ethernet

  • Power consumption: This figure depends on the PSU efficiency, ambient temperature and the accuracy of the power meters.

Step One: Network

Let's prepare your network. You need to have your routers IP address to look something like 192.168.1.X. The x can be really any number but the rest of the IP needs to be the same to initially communicate with your router. Check what your router's current IP is by running ipconfig into the cmd console. If you find you need to change your routers IP, log into your router and change the LAN IP.

Step Two: Miner Setup

Grab the glorious piece of money making hardware and your PSU. plug the PSU into 2 or 4 of the 6 pin PCI-e slots. The image below shows you how to properly connect the two. Now ensure your miner is connected to your network by Ethernet.

If all is set properly, you should now be able to talk to and configure your miner. Enter 192.168.1.99 or the IP on your miner into your browser. You should come up with a login screen, root is the username and password to login. Once you're logged in you can alter your pool settings, IP address, and more.

You're all set! Pretty easy right!

If you're using a pool that needs you to set a difficulty, my recommendation is to set something around 512 difficulty. I use Slush's pool so it uses the difficulty you set as a MIN value, so if it sees you can take higher difficulty shares, you will still get them.

Once you've set them up please keep in mind there a lot of ccustomization you can still make to your miner(s). If you are having issues with trouble shooting, please refer to this USER MANUAL.
